Songdo Marine Cable Car in Busan: Fares, Crystal Cabin & How to Get There

The Songdo Marine Cable Car (officially branded Busan Air Cruise, also called the Songdo Bay Cable Car) is one of the easiest ways to see Busan's southwest coast from above. It crosses open water instead of climbing a mountain, so you float over Songdo Beach with the sea right below you. I'm Jin from Korea, and this guide covers the cabin types, fares, hours, how to get there from Busan Station, Nampo and Jagalchi, and a few tips to save you time.

Fares and hours change from time to time, so check the official site before you go. All prices below are examples from the operator's published rates and may change.

What Is the Songdo Marine Cable Car?

The line runs about 1.62 km over the sea between Songdo Bay Station (at Songnim Park, the eastern end of Songdo Beach) and Songdo Sky Park Station (at Amnam Park, on the western side). It reaches roughly 86 m above the water at its highest point, and one way takes about 15 to 20 minutes according to tourism sources. There are no stops in between. Korea's national tourism site says it is a cable car that crosses the sea rather than a mountain.

Crystal Cabin vs Regular Cabin

There are two kinds of cabins, and the line moves at the same speed in both.

  • Crystal Cruise (Crystal Cabin): a cabin with a transparent glass floor. You look straight down at the water. It costs more and has its own, often longer, queue.
  • Air Cruise (regular cabin): a standard cabin with a solid floor. The views out of the windows are the same.

If you are afraid of heights, choose the regular cabin. If you want the thrill, choose crystal. Note that the glass floor shows the sea, not a drop onto land, so it feels less scary than many glass-floor attractions.

Fares (Check the Official Site; May Change)

These are the adult and child prices listed by the operator when I checked. "Child" means age 3 up to elementary school.

Crystal cabin

TicketAdultChild
Round trip₩24,000₩18,000
One way₩19,000₩15,000

Regular cabin

TicketAdultChild
Round trip₩19,000₩14,000
One way₩15,000₩12,000

The operator also lists a weekday-only unlimited day pass, a paid "speedy" option that skips the queue, and private-cabin options. Children under 36 months ride free. Prices can change and promotions vary, so confirm the current rate before you buy.

Round trip or one way? A round trip is usually the better value, because the round-trip ticket is only about ₩5,000 more than one way. One-way tickets can only be used from the station where you bought them. Choose one way only if you plan to walk back, for example along the coast trail from Amnam Park.

Operating Hours

The operator lists seasonal hours (last ticket is 30 minutes before closing):

  • December to February: about 09:00 to 20:00
  • March to June and September to November: about 09:00 to 21:00
  • July and August: about 09:00 to 22:00

It is open year-round, but it can close early or pause in bad weather. The official site shows the day's status. Check it that morning, not the night before.

How to Get to Songdo Bay Station (Songdo Beach Side)

The official address is 171 Songdohaebyeon-ro, Seo-gu, Busan. There is no subway station right at the cable car, so you will take a bus for the last part. Here are the routes the operator and travel sites list. Bus numbers can change, so confirm in a map app.

From Nampo or Jagalchi (Subway Line 1)

  • Go out of Nampo Station Exit 1 or 8 and take bus 6, 26, 30 or 71.
  • Or go out of Jagalchi Station Exit 1 and take bus 6, 26, 30, 71, 96 or 96-1.
  • Get off at Amnam-dong Community Service Center (Songdo entrance area) and walk about 10 minutes to the station. Look for the way up to the 4th-floor boarding platform.

The bus ride is roughly 10 minutes from Nampo, according to travel guides.

From Busan Station

The operator lists general buses 17, 61 and 26 from Busan Station toward the Songdo area. Bus 26 is the one most travel sites mention. If you arrive in Busan by train, see my KTX booking guide for foreign visitors. Alternatively take subway Line 1 to Nampo and transfer.

By Taxi

A taxi from Nampo, Jagalchi or Busan Station is the simplest option if you have luggage or are in a group. Show the driver "송도해상케이블카" (Songdo Haesang Cable Car) or the address. From Busan Station it is roughly 5–6 km and typically takes about 15–20 minutes, around ₩10,000–₩12,000 on the meter; Nampo and Jagalchi are closer, so expect a bit less. Traffic can push the fare and time up or down, so check your map app for a live estimate.

To the Amnam Park Side

The other station, Songdo Sky Park, is at 181 Amnamgongwon-ro. Some buses, such as 30 and 71 from Nampo, continue to the Amnam Park stop, according to one travel guide. This works if you want to ride one way from that side.

Driving

The operator lists parking lots near the Songdo Bay Station, with discounts on parking for cable car riders. Details vary by lot and day, so check the official parking page.

Tickets and Booking for Foreign Visitors

  • On site: you can buy at the ticket counter at the station. Queues can build on weekends.
  • Online: the English site lists an online reservation channel (NOL Universe), and international platforms such as Klook sell vouchers that you exchange for a ticket at the station counter. If the Korean booking pages or card payment are a hassle, the Klook Songdo cable car voucher is in English and lets you pick a regular or crystal cabin. Check the terms of whichever you use.
  • Walk-up vs online: on-site tickets are always available, so you do not need to pre-book. Online tickets only work from the day after purchase (same-day purchase and use is not possible), so for same-day plans buy at the station. Bring a credit or debit card and a little cash. I covered the basics of paying in my T-money guide.

Tips for a Better Visit

  • Weather and wind: strong wind or rain can stop the cable car. Check the official site on the day. The operator says unused tickets can be refunded if service stops because of bad weather.
  • Queues: weekends, holidays and sunny afternoons are the busiest. Weekday mornings are usually calmer. The official site shows a live waiting number.
  • Light: clear days look best from above. Sunset is popular, but allow for the last-ticket time and the queue.
  • Dress: it can be breezier over the sea than on land, so bring a light layer.
  • Combine it with: the Songdo Beach skywalk and coastal trail area (confirm its status before you plan around it), a walk through Amnam Park, then Jagalchi Market and Nampo for seafood and street food.

Who Is It Best For?

  • First-time Busan visitors who want a quick, scenic activity.
  • Families and couples looking for an easy half-day plan.
  • Photographers who like sea and coast views.

It may disappoint anyone who expects a long ride or a hike-and-view mountain cable car. If you also like water views at night, my Haeundae River Cruise guide is a good pairing, and the Paradise Hotel Busan review may help with where to stay near Haeundae.

FAQ

How long does the Songdo cable car ride take?

About 15 to 20 minutes one way, depending on the source and conditions.

Is the crystal cabin worth it?

If you want a glass-floor view of the sea, yes. If not, the regular cabin has the same route and saves a few thousand won.

Is round trip better than one way?

Usually yes, since the cost difference is small. One-way tickets only board from the station of purchase.

Do I need to book in advance?

Usually not for a weekday, but online booking can help on busy days. Check the official site.

Can I go if it is windy or raining?

Service may pause in bad weather. Check the operator's status page that day.

Is there a subway station near it?

No. Take subway Line 1 to Nampo or Jagalchi, then a bus, or take a taxi.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, with fares for children and free entry for toddlers under 36 months per the operator.

Prices, hours, and bus routes come from the operator and tourism sources and can change. Always confirm on the official site before your trip.
